PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an in-space spread type structure and its spreading method assuring a large rigidity after being spread and not requiring any complicated mechanism or work for erection. SOLUTION: The sides 6 of this structure are wound on three respective winding cores 5 and accommodated. The winding cores 5 are coupled together by a joint 3 rotatably around the axis in a triangular arrangement. The fixing parts 7 at the end face secured to the edge of each side part 6 are attached to the wall surface of a coupling root structure 10 in such a way as assuming a triangular shape. A spreading motor 8 is put in operation, and a driving rod 2 is extended from the n-coupling root structure 10. This causes the winding cores 5 coupled by the joint 3 to move simultaneously in the directions of going farther from the coupling root structure 10, and the cores 5 rotating pay out the sides 6, which generates a cylindrical coupling space having a triangular section with the sides 6 spread.
