PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an explosion-proof color picture tube with substantial explosion-proof properties, without fear of generating positional shift of a horizontal-direction center axis of the picture tube from that of a TV cabinet. SOLUTION: A panel 4 having a front part 2 and a side wall part 3 with a phosphor screen 14 formed on an inside face and a funnel 5 are jointed, and an explosion-proof band 22 is mounted on the panel 4 so as to surround the front part 2 and the side wall parts 3. The explosion-proof band 22 is provided with a convex part 23 extended in a length direction of the band at an area further toward a front part 2 side than an interface 21 between the front part 2 and the side wall part 3, except for either end side of the band in a width direction.
