A composition for use in the diagnosis of infections mononucleosis consists of a saline suspension containing from 2% to 6% by volume of equine erythrocytes which have been treated with formaldehyde, glutaraldehyde or pyruvaldehyde, the amount of aldehyde used being from 0.2 to 1 volume of aldehyde per volume of equine erythrocytes. The suspension may contain sodium. azide, phenol or sodium ethyl mercurithiosalicylate as preservative. |
