FREQUENCY OFFSET ESTIMATION APPARATUS AND METHOD IN WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATION SYSTEM

A method and an apparatus for estimating a frequency offset in a wireless communication system are provided to facilitate the offset estimation by estimating the frequency offset only using input symbols without additional preamble signal information. An apparatus for estimating a frequency offset in a wireless communication system includes an ADC(Analog Digital Converter), a decimator(150), and a frequency offset estimator(400). The ADC converts an analog signal from an antenna to a digital signal. The decimator resamples an over-sampled digital signal which is outputted from the ADC. The frequency offset estimator measures a correlation value among previous and next samples on a symbol basis. The samples are outputted from the decimator. The frequency offset estimator estimates the frequency offset value based on the measured correlation value.
