Desthiobiotin prodn

摘要

Desthiobiotin is prepd. economically by hydrogenation of 4(5)-methyl-5(4)-(1-keto-5-carbethoxypentyl)-2-imidazolinone under pressure in the presence of a Raney Ni catalyst at 30-140 degrees C, and subsequent hydrolysis of the product. If redn. is effected in the presence of alkali, pure cis-desthiobiotin is obtained. Desthiobiotin is a growth substance for yeast, thus is of interest in bread making and in fodder yeast prodn. It can also replace vitamin H in microbiological processes.
