<p>Purification of bis-(p-hydroxyethyl)terephthalate by crystallising from an aromatic compound which is liquid at ambient temp, (as in BE. 725,671) the improvement comprising contacting the crude or crystallised terephthalate with hydrogen in the presence of a hydrogenation catalyst, at least before or after the precipitation stage, in a state wherein the terephthalate is molten, or dissolved or dispersed in the solvent, or another inert liquid.</p> |
