A rotary electric system is provided to prevent an excessive power from being supplied to a load and a storage battery by restricting the generating capacity by opening end terminals of some coils at each phase through a relay. A rotary electric system includes a rotary unit(70), a coupling unit(160), a relay(162), and a controller(118). The rotary unit includes a rotor and a stator. The coupling unit includes plural coils which are connected to an I/O unit of respective phases. The coupling unit is arranged on the stator. The relay is turned on and off according to a connection state of the coil. The controller is connected to the I/O unit and the relay. When the rotor is rotated, the controller short-circuits the contact points of the relay and provides electric power to the I/O unit. When the electric power is generated, the contact points are open-circuited and the generated power is supplied to a predetermined load.
