A field emission display apparatus and a method for fabricating thereof are provided to prevent damage of a lower electrode and to obtain a uniform field emission effect by forming a lower electrode protective layer. A resistance layer(210) is formed on a lower substrate(200). A lower electrode(220) is formed on the resistance layer. A lower electrode protective layer(230) is formed on the lower electrode in order to protect the lower electrode. An insulating layer(240) is formed on the lower electrode protective layer. A gate electrode(250) is formed on the insulating layer. An emitter(260) is formed on the lower electrode within openings formed at the insulating layer and the gate electrode in order to emit electrons.
