A speed governor device of an elevator, wherein a pulley shaft is rotatably supported on a base fixed to a car. A governor pulley around which a governor rope vertically tensed in a hoistway is wrapped is installed on the base. A flyweight displaced from a normal position to a trip position by a centrifugal force caused by the rotation of the governor pulley is fitted to the governor pulley. An operation member displaceable in the axial direction of the pulley shaft is fitted to the pulley shaft. The normal position of the flyweight is adjusted by the displacement of the operation member relative to the pulley shaft. A cam member tilted to a car moving direction is installed in the hoistway. An operation force transmission member for displacing the operation member is installed in the car. The operation force transmission member comprises an engagement part engaged with the operation member in the axial direction of the pulley shaft and a driven part connected to the engagement part and guided along the cam member according to the movement of the car.
