A fire alarm system having a frequency modulation type moving picture transmission apparatus and a method thereof are provided to rapidly grasp a state of a fire by providing an image of a fire-sensing area within a cabin. A fire sensing unit(24) senses temperature and density of smoke and outputs a fire-sensing signal. A voice communication unit(21) receives or transmits an emergency call signal and a sound signal from or to an operating room. An image acquisition unit(23) is connected to the fire sensing unit and the voice communication unit in order to photograph a fire-sensing area and an emergency-call area, to modulate image signals of photographed images, and to output the image signals to channels. A monitoring unit(11) displays and alarms a fire by comparing the fire-sensing signal with a reference value, and outputs the received images. An image processing unit(12) receives only the image signals according to a channel selection signal of the monitoring unit, and outputs the received signals to the monitoring unit. A switching unit(22) outputs the image signals to the image processing unit and outputs the fire-sensing signal according to a call of the monitoring unit.
