A method and an apparatus for providing state information of a digital device are provided to stably update state information of a digital device in real time. The first network interface module(570) receives data transmitted from a digital device in response to a data request transmitted to the digital device in a home network. The second network interface module(580) establishes a temporary session with the digital device through an opened port and receives state information data. A control module(540) updates state information of the digital device based on the received state information data.
