A DMB(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting) receiving terminal and a peripheral device are provided to use both the functions of H.264 encoder and H.264 decoder and smoothly interface the DMB receiving terminal with an external device having no H.264 codec function. A DMB receiving terminal includes a data storage unit(300), a DMB receiver(110) for receiving a DMB signal, demodulating the received DMB signal and temporarily storing the demodulated DMB signal in the data storage unit, an external data input unit(200), a serial communication interface(400), an H.264 encoder(210) for encoding external data inputted through the external data input unit or data provided by the data storage unit according to H.264 encoding method, and an H.264 file generator(220) for receiving THE data encoded by the H.264 encoder and generating a file according to H.264 codec mode. The DMB receiving terminal further includes an H.264 decoder(120) for receiving the DMB signal stored in the data storage unit and decoding the DMB signal according to H.264 decoding method, a moving picture output unit(130) for displaying the signal decoded by the H.264 decoder, an operating unit(500) through which a user inputs a request signal, and a controller(600) for controlling input/output of data through the DMB receiver, the external data input unit, the serial communication interface, and the moving picture output unit according to the request signal and controlling the operations of the H.264 encoder and the H.264 decoder.
