PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate an erroneous variance in adaptive control operation to secure stability of control characteristics by causing the control characteristics not to follow a response change due to disturbance. SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus includes; response signal output means 109 which outputs a response signal based on input/output characteristics set as a reference model with respect to a difference between a detected state detected by a state detection means 102 and a target; an adaptive parameter calculation means 110 which calculates an adaptive parameter in accordance with a difference between the response signal and the detected state; and an adaptive control means 111 which generates an adaptive control signal on the basis of the difference between the detected state and the target and the adaptive parameter and performs drive control of an object of drive control by the adaptive control signal, and the imaging apparatus makes the detected state follow the response signal. The imaging apparatus is provided with an adaptability varying means 113 for changing the adaptive parameter in accordance with an environment of disturbance and makes a second adaptability corresponding to second disturbance lower than a first adaptability corresponding to first disturbance when the second disturbance is larger than the first disturbance.
