PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce noise from the time of starting meshing to the time of sitting, and to reduce wear of a silent chain and a sprocket. SOLUTION: An addendum flank (a) of a sprocket tooth flank contacting the chain at a meshing initial stage with the chain has a tooth form shape comprising an envelope l of a locus of an inner side flank face 23 of a link plate 2 drawn when the chain linearly moves so as to mesh with the sprocket S without causing chordal vertical motion. A tooth crest b of the sprocket tooth flank contacting the chain at the time of sitting has a tooth form shape comprising an envelope m of a locus of an inner thigh 25 of the link plate 2 drawn when the link plate 2 is rotated by winding motion of the chain to the sprocket S.
