PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote controller having direction keys with the same structure, without requiring keys corresponding to all setting directions, to designate a direction between the direction keys. SOLUTION: The remote controller is provided with the direction keys 14a, 14b, 14c, 14d corresponding to a plurality of switches equally allocated to its main body, and when the respective direction keys 14a, 14b, 14c, 14d are respectively individually operated, a light emitting section 27 transmits data corresponding to the operated direction key. When one of the direction keys 14a, 14b, 14c, 14d and other direction key adjacent to the one of the direction keys are operated at the same time, data corresponding to direction keys 14e, 14f, 14g, 14h arranged between the direction keys 14a, 14b, 14c, 14d are transmitted.
