<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a time required for starting a catalyst, minimize excessive fuel consumption, and less exhaust contaminants generated during a time when the temperature of the catalyst rises up to light-off of the catalyst. <P>SOLUTION: Out of a total supply amount, the supply amount of fuel, air and recirculated exhaust gas to a cylinder in one of two groups is more than that to cylinders in the other groups so that an exhaust temperature rises to quicken the temperature rise of an exhaust purifying means when the engine is operated at a low speed and/or at low torque. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
