PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for decomposing accumulated advanced glycation endproducts (AGEs) to reduce the AGEs in the skins. SOLUTION: This method for producing a cosmetic comprises extracting the body of a Artemisia plant with a polar solvent to obtain an extract, if desired, subjecting the extract to a fractionation, a purification, and the removal of a solvent, when the product is added to a cosmetic, incubating the extract with 1-phenyl-1,2-propanedione, confirming the amount of the produced benzoic acid, and then adding the extract to the cosmetic. The Artemisia plant is preferably Artemisia princeps Pampanini. The extraction solvent is preferably water-containing ethanol. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
