PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To ensure the performance of an aerosol collection mechanism 30 over a long period of time. SOLUTION: A liquid ejection device comprises a recording head 164, a platen 150, a peripheral electrode, and a separating section 156. The recording head 164 includes a conductive nozzle plate 166 having apertures 168 formed therein, and ejects liquid from the apertures 168 to a surface of recording paper 170 while reciprocatively moving on the recording paper 170. The platen 150 is arranged at a location opposed to the nozzle plate 166 with respect to a liquid ejection direction, and abuts on a rear surface of the recording paper 170 to position the same. The peripheral electrode is located on the same side as the platen 150 of the recording paper 170, arranged on the periphery of the platen 150, and has an electric potential different from that of the nozzle plate 166. The separating section 156 is formed on the surface of the platen 150 at a location between an opposed area opposed to the nozzle plate 166 and the peripheral electrode, and has low wettability to the liquid, to thereby exert non-retaining performance of the liquid splashed thereto.
