PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a nonseparable rate of paper sheets by automatically adjusting a separation capacity of the paper sheets by a feed roller and gate rollers according to a change in the thickness and rigidity of the paper sheets by simple constitution. SOLUTION: The paper sheets are sent out by allowing a rotating pickup roller 3 to abut on the surface of the stacked paper sheets P, and sent-out paper sheets are inserted into a clearance formed by oppositely arranging the feed roller 5 and a pair of gate rollers 7, and the paper sheets are separated by rotating the feed roller in the same direction as the pickup roller. The pair of gate rollers is positioned on both sides of the feed roller, and positions of the outer peripheral edge of the feed roller and the gate rollers are arranged by mutually overlapping in the radial direction. The pair of gate rollers are formed so as to be freely movable in the axial direction and energized in the direction of the feed roller by a return spring 22, and the separation capacity of the paper sheets is automatically adjusted by changing an interval between the pair of gate rollers according to the rigidity of the paper sheets.
