PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an X-ray diagnostic apparatus and its operating method, which is capable of quickly setting a compensation filter in an intended position and highly conveniently and safely setting an X-ray irradiation range and the compensation filter. SOLUTION: When a diaphragm blade is moved while observing a fluoroscopic image for setting, moving or changing an X-ray irradiation range, each compensation filter is moved following to the diaphragm blade and disposed at a waiting position. In a fluoroscopy mode, only a region requiring a moving image capturing is irradiated with X-rays and in the other regions, a still image captured in the past is displayed spatially corresponding thereto.
