PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear shifting operation device of an automatic transmission in which the configuration of the device is downsized. SOLUTION: The gear shifting operation device 1 of the automatic transmission having the automatic gear shifting mode and the manual gear shifting mode comprises a base body 3 installed on a vehicle body member of a vehicle, and a shift lever body 5 provided on the base body 3 in a shift operable manner. The shift lever body 5 comprising a lever body 6 constituting its main body, a supporting member 7 provided on a base end of the lever body 6 and turnably supported by the base body 3 in the shift operable manner, and a knob 10 provided on an operation end of the lever body 6. The lever body 6 is provided movably in the axial direction of the lever body 6 and turnably around the axial direction with respect to the supporting member 7.
