1288423 2,2,4 - Trimethylpentenyl - 1 - isobutyrate BP CHEMICALS Ltd 4 Nov 1970 [17 Dec 1969] 61392/69 Heading C2C 2,2,4 - Trimethylpentenyl - 1 - isobutyrate is produced by the dehydration of 3-hydroxy-2,2, 4 - trimethylpentyl - 1 - isobutyrate in the presence of at least 0À01% wt./wt. based on total weight of reaction mixture of an added acid catalyst (e.g. a Bronsted or Lewis acid such as sulphuric, phosphoric or toluene parasulphonic acids, or BF 3 or complexes thereof with water and alcohols) and at least 10% wt./wt., e.g. 40-60%, added 2,2,4-trimethylpentyl-1,3- diisobutyrate, based on the total reaction mixture. |
