PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video reproducing apparatus whereby a user can view and listen to a television program pleasantly in a shorter time because the user can view and listen to the television program from which redundant parts are omitted. SOLUTION: The video reproducing apparatus detects a redundant range in video images before and after a CM and in a consecutive video image, and registers the end of the redundant range as a chapter position.
