PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wheel bearing device in a fourth-generation structure having a reduced weight and a compact figure as well as higher rigidity and improved durability, and to provide an axle module equipped therewith. SOLUTION: The wheel bearing device in a fourth-generation structure comprises a hub ring 1 and an outside joint member 14 unitized with plastic joint in such a manner that a hardened irregular part 11 is formed on the inner diameter of the outside joint member 14 and a fitting part 1c of the hub ring 1 is diameter-enlarged and bitten into the irregular part 11. Herein, a pitch circle diameter PCDi of a ball 6b on the inner side of double-raw balls 6a, 6b is set to be larger than a pitch circle diameter PCDo of the ball 6a on the outer side, the double-raw balls 6a, 6b have the same size, and the number of balls 6b on the inner side is set to be greater than the number of the balls on the outer side.
