PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To regenerate normal temperature NOx adsorption material of which NOx adsorption quantity drops due to reduction and quickly recover NOx adsorption capacity. SOLUTION: The NOx adsorption material which consists of carrier containing specific oxide which is oxide of at least one element selected from Co, Fe, Cu, Ce and Mn, and carried metal which is at least one metal selected from Cu, Co, Ag and Pb and is different from metal element of the carrier and is carried by the specific oxide, is made contact with excess oxygen lean gas containing oxygen gas. Reduced specific oxide is oxidized by oxygen gas contained in the lean gas and is returned to original oxidized condition. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
