PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of fitting a member free from concern about the bulging, loosening, falling or the like of projections constraining designing. SOLUTION: Into a fitting hole 3 of a first material 1, the distal end side of a bolt 5 provided with a flange part having an external diameter larger than that of the same at the proximal end side is inserted. A second material 2 is superimposed on the first material 1. A welding tool having a reverse U-shaped cross section provided with a recessed part 7 having an internal diameter larger than that of the flange part 4 is pressed against the second material 2 while being rotated. The second material 2 around the flange part 4 in a solid phase state is locally softened by the friction heat and the welding tool 8 is sank therein, and the welding tool 8 is pressed also against the first material 1; thus the first material 1 is softened, and further, the boundary part 9 between the first material 1 and the second material 2 is stirred. Further, the second material 2 in the recessed part 7 is softened by the whole of the inside face in the recessed part 7 of the welding tool 8 to bury the flange part 4 in the softened part.
