PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal device capable of achieving a cost reduction by reducing the number of components while sufficiently securing strength by improving a movable-side casing. SOLUTION: The movable-side casing 4 of the portable terminal device to be coupled to a fixed-side casing 3 so as to be freely overlapped with the fixed-side casing 3 is formed into a box-shape, in which the movable-side casing 4 has a side wall 8a with a depth of allowing an electronic component for the movable-side casing 4 to be internally stored. A display part 7a of a display device 7 is exposed on the opening part 8b side. The movable-side casing 4 is composed of a magnesium alloy-made outer case 8 and a flat plate-like resin-made panel plate 9 that covers the surface of the display unit 7a of the display device 7 while being fixed at the opening 8b of the outer case 8. Thus, only one box-shaped outer case 8 is required as a case for the movable-side casing 4 by eliminating a case for the display unit 7a side of the display device 7. Consequently, it is possible to achieve a reduction in the number of components and the cost reduction while further improving case strength, since the outer case 8 is made of a lightweight and high-strength magnesium alloy and the depth of the side wall 8a is increased.
