PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum alloy billet suited particularly to heat rolls which has excellent strength, high-temperature creep characteristics and heat resistance and whose surface is not black. SOLUTION: The above problem can be solved by providing a billet for heat rolls which is composed of an aluminum alloy having a composition consisting of, by mass, 0.97 to 1.50% Mn, 0.50 to 2.50% Mg, 0.20 to 1.40% Cu, 0.20 to 1.00% Fe, 0.01 to 0.50% Ti, 0.0001 to 0.01% Be and the balance Al with inevitable impurities.
