摘要 A transfer material comprises a carrier sheet supporting a layer or one or more indicia in a transferable material which is an ink containing a pressure-sensitive adhesive ingredient. The exposed surface of the transfer material is of low tack and the adhesive properties of the material are balanced in relation to the surfaces of the carrier sheet and a receptor sheet so that the material is not transferred bodily to the contiguous surface of the receptor sheet under normal finger pressure, but only under the application of substantial pressure, e.g. 50 p.s.i., by a stylus &c. to the rear surface of the carrier sheet. The carrier sheet may be transparent or translucent or may be of paper such as glassine, vegetable parchment, or kraft glassine, uncoated or coated on at least one side or impregnated with a polymethyl siloxane or a chromium complex. The sheet may also consist of numerous plastics materials including polythene, cellulose acetate or polyvinylidene chloride. The ink includes a tacky presence sensitive component, a low tack or non-tacky component, a high tensile strength polymer, and a pigment: numerous examples are given of suitable ink compositions. The ink may include a high boiling point plasticizer, e.g. di-isobutyl phthalate, which exudes towards the outer surface of the indicia to maintain it tacky, a polymerizable system of which the polymerization is air inhibited, or a polymer-catalyst system wherein the catalyst content is inadequate to bring about complete polymerization. In one example, the ink includes polyvinyl butyral, microcrystalline wax, carbon black, polyvinyl isobutyl ether, and a solvent. The indicia may be multi-coloured with the multiple impressions either superimposed or side by side. The transfer may be in tape form.
