TWO WAY BACK LIGHT UNIT AND TWO WAY LIQUID CRYSTALDISPLAY DEVICE USING THE SAME

A bidirectional backlight unit and an LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) using the same are provided to improve the size of an optical sheet and a bottom chassis structure, thereby achieving a small and slim LCD. The bidirectional backlight unit includes a light guide panel(114). Optical sheets(120) are installed at opposite sides of the light guide panel. A bottom chassis(126) receives the light guide panel and the optical sheet. The optical sheet installed at a side of the light guide panel is smaller than that installed at the other side of the light guide panel. The bottom chassis includes the first bottom surface(126a) and the second bottom surface(126b) with different depths. The second bottom surface is separated from the first bottom surface and has an opening. The first and second display units are arranged to opposite sides of the bottom chassis.
