APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR IMPROVING SPEED OF DATA READING FROM SUBSCRIBER IDENTITY MODULE

A method for improving speed of reading data from an SIM(Subscriber Identity Module) and an apparatus are provided to efficiently reduce the time for reading data from the SIM. A method for improving speed of reading data from an SIM(Subscriber Identity Module) comprises the following several steps. An ME(Mobile Equipment) transfers a command for selecting an EF(Elementary Field) ECC(Emergency Call Code) to the SIM for reading effective records of the EF ECC(600). The SIM sets a reading position within EF ARR(Access Rule Reference)(605), and transfers a response to the ME wherein the response is for noticing that the ME refers to an EF RNR(Record Number Reference) located at the reading position(610). The ME transfers an instruction for selecting the EF ARR to the SIM(615) and transfers an instruction for reading information on the EF RNR at the position within the EF ARR(620). The ME transfers an instruction for selecting the EF RNR in order to access a real EF RNR based on the read information on the EF RNR(625). The ME transfers an instruction for reading a record in order to read effective record information(630). The SIM transfers the effective record information of the real EF RNR to the ME(635). The ME transfers an instruction for reading the record to the SIM in order to read the record in which the real data exists(640).
