A method for inputting a key stroke recognition interface in a mobile terminal is provided to accomplish a customized shortened function allowing a user to designate a frequently used menu or function as hot key stroke data. A controller of a mobile terminal checks whether a shortened key stroke operation is performed at a touch panel by a user in a standby mode(S1,S2). When the shortened key stroke operation is performed, an ADC(Analog/Digital Converter) converts data inputted through the touch panel into digital data and transmits it to a controller(S3). The controller stores coordinate values with respect to the shortened key stroke operation, fetches a stroke coordinate table from a memory and compares both coordinate values(S4,S5). When the coordinate value corresponding to the first shortened stroke operation of the stroke coordinate table, the controller executes a shortcut to a menu view(S6).
