It is stated that the surface tension forces at the menisci remove non-image forming particles 14 and dissolved portions of layer 13 from member 10 to leave a clear image. Alternatively, layer 13 may be softened by heat or vapour, and then passed through menisci 21 to remove non-image forming particles 14. The liquid may also serve to apply a fixing agent to member 10. In Fig.3, the menisci 20 are provided by a liquid droplet supported between a roller 18 and wedge 23. Other systems are described Figs.4-12 (not shown), including spray devices. A field may be applied across member 10 during liquid application. |
