A cooling apparatus for a drum type washing machine is provided to prevent a burn accident due to the air of high temperature by supplying cooling water having a predetermine temperature or less into a chamber and lowering the temperature of the interior of tub within a predetermine time. A cooling apparatus for a drum type washing machine includes a cabinet(110), a tub(120), a drum(122), a drive unit, a duct(130), a blowing fan(132), a heater(134), a chamber, a pump, a discharge pipe(154) and a valve, and a control section. The drive unit is installed in the tub and is connected with the drum. The duct is communicated with the tub to circulate the air in the interior of the tub. The blowing fan and the heater are installed in the interior of the duct. The chamber is installed on a circumferential surface of a portion of the duct to form a space. The discharge pipe is connected to one side of the chamber and the pump is installed in the water supply pipe. The discharge pipe and the valve are connected to the other side of the chamber. The control section opens the valve if the power supply to the heater is stopped, and drives the pump. |
