1277682 Fuse-heads BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORP Ltd 19 April 1971 [16 March 1970] 12550/70 Heading F3A A dipped fuse-head for explosive or pyrotechnic charges comprises a plastics cap 9 heat shrunk into close contact with an igniting charge 8. A sealing ring (11, Fig. 2 not shown) made of low-melting point plastics material, e.g. polythene, is located in the neck of the cap. The charge 8 is initiated by a bridge wire 1 which extends around one end of an insulating board 3 to electrical contact pads 4 and 5. The charge 8 is produced by dipping the insulating board and adjacent bridgewire into a first ignitable substance and then into a second ignitable substance which forms a hand casing around the first substance. The head is then optionally dipped in varnish. The cap 9 is formed of an irradiated thermally-stabilized polyolefin e.g. polyethylene, polypropylene, polytetrafluroethylene or polychlorotrifluoroethylene. |
