A light emitting device is provided to amplify the light emitted from a light emitting element by forming a light resonance layer of a simple structure, thereby increasing the efficiency of light diffusion. At least two light emitting elements emitting light of different color are provided on a substrate(1). A first layer(21) and a second layer(22) are formed on surfaces of the light emitting elements, an image being displayed on the surfaces. The first layer has an index of refraction lower than that of the second layer. The thickness of at least one of the first and second layers is different in at least two of the colors of the light emitted from the light emitting element.
