#CMT# #/CMT# Extraction of active principles from plants to increase the rate and to ensure the stabilization of acylphloroglucinol in these extracts, comprises subjecting the extracts in a suitable pH zone, followed by drying by vacuum dehydration at low temperature on zeolite. #CMT# : #/CMT# Independent claims are included for: (1) an extract obtained by the process containing 2-8% of hyperforin in combination with a mineral salt; and (2) compositions containing the extract obtained by the process used for the therapeutic and/or para-pharmaceutical use, comprising the extract (300 mg) with approximately 2% of hyperforin, magnesium element (10 mg) in the form of salts and magnesium (120 mg) as magnesium citrate. #CMT#ACTIVITY : #/CMT# CNS-Gen.; Gastrointestinal-Gen.; No biological data given. #CMT#MECHANISM OF ACTION : #/CMT# None given. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# The invention deals with the extraction of active principles, particularly from Hypericum perforatum (claimed). #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The extraction method increases the rate and ensures the stabilization of acylphloroglucinol in active principles extracted from plants (claimed). The extraction method provides improved stability of active ingredients. #CMT#BIOLOGY : #/CMT# Preferred Components: The plant extract is Hypericum perforatum extract having a hyperforin concentration of 2-8%, preferably 3-5%. #CMT#PHARMACEUTICALS : #/CMT# Preferred Process: The stabilization of acylphloroglucinol is obtained by salification of acylphloroglucinol by various alkaline agents, preferably soda, magnesium hydroxide and calcium hydroxide. The salification is effected by metallic salts, triethanolamine or triethylamine. The extract in the form of salt, is transformed into base by controlled acidification of the extraction solutions using a mineral/organic acid e.g. hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, citric acid or ascorbic acid. The extract in salified form is isolated, followed by addition of citric acid and/or ascorbic acid or other antioxidants to improve its physical state. The process further comprises addition of dilution additives e.g. maltodextrins and/or lubricants e.g. metallic stearates and slipping agents e.g. citric acid or silicic acid to facilitate the pharmaceutical formulation. The extract obtained by the process is added with magnesium citrate. Preferred Composition: The composition is incorporated with active ingredients acting on gastro-intestinal and/or central nervous system, preferably on central nervous system e.g. polyunsaturated fatty acid of omega-3 series. #CMT#EXAMPLE : #/CMT# Typical composition comprised (in kg): Hypericum perforatum extract (30); magnesium citrate (12); sodium croscarmellose (5.2); microcrystalline cellulose (14.905); glycerol dibehenate (0.676); and colloidal silica (0.219).
|
