A method for setting an optimum writing voltage of an optical disc is provided to set the optimum writing voltage by using a bit error ratio of the optical disc when OPC(Optimum Power Control) of the optical disc is performed. OPC for an optical disc is firstly performed(S120). A writing voltage is obtained in accordance with the firstly performed OPC. The obtained writing voltage is controlled by a preliminarily set voltage and the OPC is secondly performed(S150). A bit error of signal data written on the optical disc is detected by the secondly performed OPC(S170). A voltage having a minimum bit error ratio is set as an optimum writing voltage(S180). Data is written on the optical disc by the set optimum writing voltage(S190). The OPC is secondly performed by a plurality of writing voltages which are calculated by setting the obtained writing voltage as a central voltage, increasing the central voltage by a preliminarily set voltage and decreasing the central voltage by preliminarily set voltage.
