PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly precise focus detector capable of correcting error of defocus amount due to a chromatic aberration without causing cost rise. SOLUTION: In a camera where the relative distance of a pair of images formed with a pair of luminous fluxes passing through a photographic lens 11 is detected and the defocus amount is detected from the relative distance, the defocus amount of a focus detection area provided on a photographic image plane is detected by a focus detection optical system 101 in an AF sensor unit 71. In a Bμcom 80, the color information of the focus detection area is acquired from the imaging data of an imaging device for display 61, and the error of the chromatic aberration by the focus detection optical system 101 included in the defocus amount is corrected based on the color information.
