A method for creating a production plan for producing a plurality of versions of a printed product, the method including (a) extracting first data from a product structure digitally representing the printed product, wherein the product structure includes a composition of the printed product out of sections and wherein the first data relate to a first version out of the plurality of versions of the printed product; (b) extracting second data from the product structure digitally representing the printed product, wherein the second data relate to a second version out of the plurality of versions of the printed product; and (c) creating the production plan based on the first and the second data.
