PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-latency and wide-bandwidth method and system for converting numeric digital values into pulse density modulated analog output signals. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a method for converting a digital signal into a pulse density modulation signal. This method includes: a step 22 of receiving a digital input signal representative of a first number; a step 12 of calculating a difference between the first number and a predetermined number to obtain a second number, the predetermined number being equal to a numeric value that defines the temporal resolution of the conversion; steps 14, 18, 20 of calculating a running summation at each clock cycle of the first and second numbers, the summation having either a positive or a negative numeric sign; and step 16 of generating a portion of a pulse density modulation signal based, in part, on the changing numeric sign of the summation.
