PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an oxidized fiber, capable of suppressing the formation of fluffs and single yarn cut. SOLUTION: This oxidized fiber produced by introducing a precursor strand 6 from a housing container, feeding to a flame-retardizing furnace 10 to flame-retardize the fiber is provided by holding≤270°total contacting angles shown by the sum of the outer angles of bent parts 12 of each of the precursor strands 6 up to being fed to the flame retardizing furnace by guides 8, and keeping the maximum tension applied to the precursor strand 6 by≤245μN/piece of filament by making the number of the guides 8 as≤5 in each of the precursor strands 6.
