PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling jacket excellent in cooling efficiency. SOLUTION: The cooling jacket J is provided with a cylindrical jacket main body J1 whose inner periphery J1a faces a motor 3 and whose outer periphery J1b is covered with a block member J2, each cylindrical waterway J11a-J11d which is made annular, being independent of one another, at the outer periphery J1b of this jacket body J1, through holes J16a and J16b which are provided to pierce the cylindrical waterways J11a-J11d, in positions different in phases, in the circumferential direction of each of these cylindrical waterways J11a-J11d, and selective blocking members J3 and J4 which circulate and guide a refrigerant, which is introduced from a refrigerant inlet J14 to a cylindrical waterway J11a on one side, to a waterway J11d on the other side with meandering in order within each cylindrical waterway J11a-J11d, by selectively blocking the required points of these through holes J16a and J16b.
