PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary damper which can display a constant damper function and moreover simplifies construction without requiring a sealing member and enhances productivity. SOLUTION: The rotary damper 1 is provided with a housing 2, an circular ring part 5 provided in the housing 2, a shaft body 3 which is housed to make it possible to turn in the housing and of which a part projects from the housing 2 and a slide part 10 which is provided on the shaft body 3 and slidably abuts along the circumference with respect to the ring part 5 within the housing 2. The ring part 5 is configured so that an abutting part (ring member 9) which abuts at least on the sliding part 10 comprises an elastomer or a flexible rubber with gas enclosed.
