<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inflator capable of supplying high pressure gas instantly and capable of easily replacing parts at user level after usage. <P>SOLUTION: The inflator 1 is provided with a housing 6 to which a gas cylinder 2 is detachably attached, a plunger 17 arranged in the housing 6 so as to freely advance or retreat with respect to the gas cylinder 2, a driving device 30 for advancing and retreating the plunger 17, and a breaking pipe 24 for breaking a sealing plate 5 sealing the gas cylinder 2. A gas passage 18 having a gas inlet 18a and a gas outlet 18b is formed in the plunger 17, and the gas outlet 18b is connected to an airbag 16 through a flexible pipe 15.
