PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce impairment in image quality of a resized image when a resized image is obtained. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus comprises an image sensor for converting an optical image into an electric signal, an A/D converting section for converting an image signal outputted from the image sensor into digital image data, a section 7b2 performing color interpolation of the digital image data, a section 7b5 for separating the digital image data subjected to color interpolation at the color interpolating section to a luminance component and a color difference component, sections 7b71 and 7b72 for converting the image size of the luminance component and the color difference component, and a section 7d performing reversible compression of the luminance component and the color difference component generated at the image size converting section.
