The invention relates to a method for reducing surface defects during production of a float glass with a transformation temperature Tg equal to or greater than 600 °C consisting in removing impurities from the surface of a glass strip in a float chamber by a molten metal flowing over the glass strip in a float bath. A device for carrying out the inventive method and a float glass whose transformation temperature is equal to or greater than 600 °C and which has maximum 3 surface defects (Top Specs) whose size is greater than 35 gammam per m^2 at the exit from the float chamber are also disclosed.
