A drum type washing machine is provided to prevent a washboard from being moved when laundry is washed with hands by installing a positioning unit between the washboard and a cabinet. A drum type washing machine includes a cabinet(50), a tub(52), a drum(54), a drive unit(60), a water supply unit(62), and a washboard(70). The front surface of the cabinet is opened to install a door. The tub is installed on the inner side of the tub so as to be moved. The tub forms a predetermined space, and washing water is contained in the tub. The drum is rotatably installed on the inner side of the tub. A plurality of hole sections is formed in the drum and washing articles are contained in the drum. The drive unit is installed in the tub and is connected to the drum. The water supply unit is connected to the tub from the outside of the cabinet to supply washing water. The washboard is protruded to the outer and inner sides of the cabinet.
