A driving apparatus and method of a liquid crystal display are provided to prevent degradation of image quality due to noise by discriminating and eliminating the noise in the vertical and horizontal synchronization signals, using the number of clocks input to the liquid crystal display. A counter(210) counts the number of clocks input in a blank period of a vertical synchronization signal and a horizontal synchronization signal. The counter is reset by a reset unit(220). A latch unit(230) latches the counted number of the clocks and, at the same time, latches the vertical synchronization signal and the horizontal synchronization signal. A control unit(240) compares the latched number of the clocks with the number of reference clocks and controls the output of the latched vertical synchronization signal and horizontal synchronization signal in accordance with the comparison result. The latch unit is reset by a latch reset unit(260).
