In a mineral mining machine two cutter elements A, B, e.g. rotatable pick-carrying drums, series of discs or endless chains, are disposed on either side of a power operated conveyer 9 extending laterally of the body 1, 2, 7 and 8 of the machine and are so supported on arms 3, 4 pivotally mounted on the body that the differing altitudes at which the cutting elements operate can be reversed when the direction of movement of the machine along a face is reversed to enable the leading cutting element always to act on the lower part of the face. The arms 3, 4 in which are incorporated the drives to the cutter elements A, B are moved by hydraulically actuated jacks. Specifications 601,416 and 723,106 are referred to. |
